I was a medium person. I should get to spend eternity in a medium place! Like Cincinnati.
OOC: Player Name: North Age: 18+ Contact: cascadingnorth @ gmail & plurk IC: Name: Eleanor Shellstrop Canon: The Good Place Canon Point: Season 1 Finale, before the reset. Spoilers for the season 1 finale follow. Age: 35 Spoken language(s): English Username: whatthefork To the Mods: Nada! History: Wiki! Personality: Let's start with something simple: Eleanor Shellstrop has not been a good person. Uniquely, she has not only not been a good person, but she's also been a pretty terrible person. Historically, she's someone who always puts herself first and others not even in second. More like not considered at all. Thanks to her childhood, she was taught to do this - to rely on others was weak and to be screwed over. Better to rely only on yourself, enjoy life, and not consider others. She is resourceful, quick on her feet, and not above dirty work to get what she wants done. "Historically" however is the key word in the paragraph above. See, Eleanor's had a simple problem of dying. After dying, she was sent to a customized hell, also known as 'the Bad Place'. It gets more complicated than that: she was fooled to thinking she was sent to 'the Good Place' while knowing she didn't belong. Thinking that if she learned about ethics and being a good person she'd get to stay, she dug into studying about what it takes to be a good person. Along the way, she started to realize she was doing things like helping others, making friends, and sacrificing herself out of genuine compassion rather than just the purpose of getting to somewhere better for her. Eleanor started to...care. And that was strange, bewildering, and frightening in of itself. Though frankly, she's not had much time to consider it with everything going on. So where does that leave Eleanor now? She is still undoubtedly herself. She is however someone who now makes an effort to do the right thing - and most of the time, she has a pretty good guess of what being a good person entails. She might not always follow through on doing the right thing, but she's going to try her hardest. What'll be interesting to see at this point in time and in this setting is if she's not being pressured, will she still continue doing the "right" thing? Abilities/Skills: Eleanor is a human and as a result has no real skills beyond the amount of shrimp she's able to eat in a single sitting. Samples: [Network] [By now, you would think that Eleanor was used to these situations. Instead, waking up in a new place, with new rules and new procedures has thrown her off-kilter. Slightly. Last thing she knew, Michael was going to reset her memories and make her relive all the events she'd already been through in 'The Good Place' aka 'The Bad Place' aka 'Eleanor's personal hell or whatever it is because no one will define religions in this place'. She isn't happy about not speaking, but she's happy as a thirteen year old at an Ariana Grande concert to have a device that resembles a cell phone in her hand.] What the fuck is this place? Wait, wait, I CAN SAY FUCK. Or according to the looks everyone around me is giving me, I can type it. Because saying it earns me stares that are worse than that time I crashed that bar mitzah. Or was it a wedding? Lame DJ parties, doesn't matter. I'm assuming this is the "real" Bad Place? No one will answer my questions. But it makes sense. Also has anyone seen a French speaking weirdo in glasses, a tall sexy giraffe Brit, and the world's dumbest Floridian - I know they come dumb, but this one takes the cake. Trust me. [Admitting she misses any of them would be a faux-pas of the century. Maybe even the millenia. What matters is finding them and escaping this place and dealing with things. Yeah, totally. That's the plan. Michael must've wiped their memories. Yeah. That makes sense.] Anyhow if any of you've seen them...can you check if they remember an Eleanor Shellstrop? [Log] [Eleanor isn't certain why she volunteers for this mission. It's something she can blame on Chidi or one of the millions of dull boring authors he had her read. Krie-something or other. Krud. Sure, that sounds close enough. Krud. She's blaming Krud. Do good by others and actually make good on things. Something like that. She trudges along with the others, wishing someone anyone would talk. She misses Jason's chatter about jalapeno poppers and Chidi's rambling about authors and Tahani's talk of parties and celebrities in that stupidly adorable British accent. She doesn't trust anyone here yet - they haven't given her a reason to make her think they're better than demons. She wants genuinely to do the right thing. She's got that stupid nauseated feeling when she thinks of what might've happened to her friends. It gets darker and soon the natives are running. Great. She isn't good at running. More of a cheer on before the marathon and get wasted the night before versus actually participate in it kind of person. She can't keep up and soon she's just meandering along, disappointed in the others and thinking again about how nice it'd be if someone she actually knew was here. Heck, she'd even take Michael at this rate. Eleanor is so lost in thought that when there is a sound it catches her off guard. Then she realizes it's a sound - she hasn't even heard footsteps in this time. She looks up and sees the gleaming teeth and eyes. Feeling cold terror take over, she says the only thing she can think of] Well. Fuck. |
